Attitude not Aptitude determins our Altitude

After a grand week with our family...

We are back at work.

We came back to some bad news.

Two of our investigators had received some material that is negative to the church.

They believe it...

I always say that if you want to know how to drive a car...

Don't read a book about hitching a horse to a buggy.

If you want to know about the church you need to go to the source.

It was pretty discouraging...

We have been missionaries for four months...

We know the ups and downs of the work...

We are sad because we want others to know the joy and happiness we have.

It is not about baptizing...

It is about bringing truth to those who don't know the truth.

We have visited those who are dying...

Those who have a new lease on life...

 Those who are struggling to find their way back to the fold...

And those who are finding their way back.

What a joy there is to see people embrace the Gospel.

We had several investigators and less active come and join us...
That is exciting...

 Monday...

 Sister McClain and Barlow and Sister Campbell went to Lunch...

 And took a walking tour of the Stetson University...

 It is a beautiful Ivy League University. 

We had district meeting Wednesday...

I was so impressed with Elder Cooks message on Humility...

And Elder Haack's lesson on asking Inspired Questions...

We have a wonderful District and good missionaries.  

We had a Zone Missionary meeting at the Stake Center...

We had the Mission President speak...

The Stake President speak...

And Brother Helum...

Who is the high councilor over missionary work in our stake.

We got some wonderful ideas about how to help some we are teaching.

We received a referral for a wonderful couple...

They have six girls...

and 12 grandchildren...

We went to their home...

 But they were gone!

We left a note and our information...

 They had a small orchard...

 A beautiful yard...

All on Lake Daugharty.

It is a large lake and the homes have docks and boats...

One of the things that is unique to the Fall in Florida is the maturing Citrus fruit trees.

AND...

That beautiful Pink tree in the background.

This tree has yellow blooms and they turn into the beautiful pink pods.

Another sign of Fall...

is signs of Halloween...

The Deland 1st and 2nd wards held a Pig roast and trunk or treat.

We have a member of the ward who's husband works as a cook at the Pitmaster BBQ.

Jesse donated his time and the Pitmaster owner allowed him to prepare two pigs for us to eat.

YUM...

I haven't tasted such good whole roasted pork.

 The Thompson's...

 Very talented members gave us a wonderful variety of music...

 All kinds of games, relays and hay rides...

and a pumpkin pinata

President Hall said we couldn't dress up...

So the Elders got their faces painted...

Elder Squires...

The extent of my dress up...
I wondered if I would ever have a chance to wear them...

The Elders also had several investigators there as well...
It was a good missionary tool. 

The Fifth Sunday is missionary oriented...

In our class in Deland II ward they sang the following song as a closing song.

Since we are missionaries it has taken on a whole new meaning.

Tears flowed from my eyes...

Help Me Teach With Inspiration

Help me teach with inspiration:

Grant this blessing, Lord, I pray.

Help me lift a soul's ambition 

To a higher, nobler way.

Help me reach a friend in darkness;

Help me guide him thru the night.
