A week of Service and family....

I am always happiest when I have family around...
And...
When there is service to be done.

Ann and Gale Wight are moving to Ohio...
Gale's grandfather Henry Wight came to Juniper in 1912...
Gale and Ann are leaving in 2012.
100 years of Wights in Juniper...
Now people will refer to it as the 'ol Wight place...

Gale's family home was converted to the bunk house when his parents moved to town and turned the farm over to Gale.
Ann and Gale made it over into a Quilt Shop for Ann.
She had a large quilting machine, it took up almost the complete length of the shop.
She had several other industrial machines and tools to make professional quilts.
Many of the Quilts are donated to Veterans.
She needed her 'store' of fabric packed...
Melissa and I went up and packed six huge bins with fabric.
The fabric on bolts we put in plastic garbage bags and Melissa taped them together.
There were a few other odd jobs, but for the most part that is about all we could do.
She had some quilt batting that she didn't want anymore.
I took it to Clara Byler in Malta...
She does baby quilt for the Humanitarian projects.
The tickle down effect...
Ann blessed Clara...
I was blessed by visiting Clara.

Kind of caught Ann by surprise...
She and Gale are the PERFECT...
example of love and service...
their influence will be missed...
It is said that you can put your hand in a bucket of water...
pull it out and there is no sign that your hand was there.
That is how it is in church service as well as the missionary service...
BUT...
Ann and Gale WILL leave a huge hole...
The hearts they have touched and lives they have changed...
is huge...
It will take many of us to even come close to filling in for this great couple.
Melissa is another who is so quick to serve....
glad she let me tag along...
Always so gracious...
Always a smile.

Dani has two volleyball games a week...
 She is #20...
This game was at Home at Raft River...
The other one was at the Lighthouse Christian School
The seventh graders have won every one of their games...
Eighth graders have lost them all...
Not because they aren't good.
The other teams seem to be a point or two better...

After the Lighthouse Christian School in Twin Falls
We had dinner at Five Guys...
Tradition for Five Guys is to get a picture.
We had a great time that night...
It it worth it just to go so I can have her all to myself for a little bit.
This 'little' guy always shows up when I need groceries hauled up my stairs.
Usually Stan is around or I have just a few things that I can manage...
Tuesday I got home and Stan wasn't here and I had a lot of heavy stuff.
Dylan has been here before when I needed him
SOOOO....
I started upstairs to call Dylan...
AND...
There he was zipping into the yard on his motorbike.
What a little angle...
I use the word 'little' lightly...
He is in the second grade and is as big if not bigger then the 4th-6th graders.
He gets it though Stan's side of the family...
His Grandpa Barrus and brothers etc were huge....

In my travels to games I stop and visit the widows in Malta...
they have a lot to teach me...
what wonderful women they are...
I truly love these ladies...
One that I visit regularly is Luana Barrett.
When we first moved to the area I used to visit her mother-in-law Nina Barrett...
Every Fast Sunday she would stand and bear her testimony...
then say...
"I hope to endure to the end".
She did just that...

I have done a lot of transplanting this week...
things that are over grown to places that need something...
I love working in the yard...

I have spent many hours in study...
The Gospel Doctrine Class is a challenge...
BUT...
I deserve it...
Just the week before getting the call...
I was out walking...
I was giving thanks for this beautiful little valley...
for our Friends...
Family...
Life in general...
then I complained...
(OPPS)
Well I complained that I didn't feel settled and I missed the spiritual high I found as a missionary.
SOOOO
The moral of the story...
Don't complain...
You will be compelled to good works...
It will be a blessing...
Serving like this always is...

The smoke and dust are back...
Still no rain...
We have to have some rain soon...
We can't plant until there is moisture to plant in.

In the last couple of weeks I have had a chance to see two movies...
Obama 2016
Last Ounce of Courage...
the Obama movie is so scary...
As I study Helaman and 3Nephi this became to real for me...
A have to see movie.
Last Ounce of courage...
Take tissues...
This is a story of a family trying to hang on to our Freedom...
Very thought provoking.

"Love is what inspired our Heavenly Father to create our spirits;
it is what led our Savior to the Garden of Gethsemane to make Himself a ransom for our sins.
Love is the grand motive of the plan of salvation;
it is the source of happiness,
 the ever-renewing spring of healing,
 the precious fountain of hope.
As we extend our hands and hearts toward others in Christlike love,
something wonderful happens to us.
 Our own spirits become healed,
more refined,
 and stronger.
We become happier,
 more peaceful,
and more receptive to the whisperings of the Holy Spirit."
