Missionary work work work....

I posted a blog for just Monday...

Stan and I have been blessed to be able to work with some very good people.
We have taught lessons, fellow-shipped -- Stan dedicated a members home -- we did temple tours and temple sessions.  There was an eagle court of honor that we attended. We attended Peter Pan the stage play, and cared for Missionaries covered with ticks and chiggers.
We are busier here than in the office yet we have the freedom to use down time for good and it feels like a real mission at this point.

District Meeting is always a high light of the week.
We are taught at the feet of these wonderful young men who have such strong testimonies.
The sisters add a sweetness the Elders will never have.
All the guys wore purple ties...
 The sisters wore pink...
A sign of Unity?

Melissa this is for you....

Wednesday evening we took Elder Haack and Love to meet Elizabeth and her family for the temple tour.
 I just want to say...
this little man --Brother Herzog has the spirit of Paul.
He has done these tours twice a week for years.
He did it everyday of the week while he was in the temple presidency.
He attends the baptisms of those who he meets on this tour.
He starts the tours at the bottom of the green facing the temple

Who is this...?
Good ol' Elder Shelley.  Elder Brandenburg and Valguardson were there as well.
They are really a force to be reckoned with in the Hunters Creek area.  If every district functioned like this one-
there would be no question this mission would get 100 baptisms in a month.
Elder Shelley has got the missionary spirit and all those around him can't help but feel it and work in the same way.

 The little giant at work...

What a beautiful back drop to such a glorious message.

Our group...
Elders Love and Haack  Elizabeth and her baby Noah hubby Jake behind, mother Rachel and sister Crystal.

 Crystal wanted her picture taken...
She is 12 and HUNGRY!

Thursday evening we went to Chris Hendershott (Lewis) Eagle court of Honor...
This is a very close ward, this family is leaving Sunday after Sacrament meeting and we had a ward Dinner after the court of honor.  A very nice event.

Thursday we took Elder Moultrie and Squires to the temple....
 What a treat.
Of course we went to eat afterwards, it was Elder Squires choice.
This bouquet was just inside the door...

We stopped at Boyd's book Wednesday before the temple tour.
I saw this little angle with an apron full of sunflowers and wanted it...
The more I thought of it the more I wanted it.
I usually purchase an angel each year.
Last year I didn't but Becky knew I did this each Christmas so she sent me the little one in the back.
Well I didn't want to wait till Christmas, this one might be gone.
Ruth loved Sunflowers...

By Boyds Bookstore is a pond with a lot of water foul.  Perkins restaurant has been there for years and people feed them.  Perkins has closed and now the water foul are hungry. These geese attacked me and snapped at my heal as I walked by them.  That was the night of the temple tour.
Friday when we went back Elder Moultrie went to get out of the car and the goose attacked him.  Elder Moultrie jumped back in the car.  I was in the front seat in front of him.  I knew what to do.  I jumped out and growled and chased the geese.  They ran.

There are some very interesting ducks.

The majority of them resemble the Khaki Campbell ducks I used to raise.

We have a family we are fellow shipping whose son was a 'lost boy' in the community play Peter Pan.

It was in the Athen's Theater in Historic Downtown Deland.
It was built in 1922 and has been completely restored.
The Sands Youth Theater Group preforms there all year round.
They are going to be doing South Pacific, Charlotte's Webb, Best Christmas Pageant Ever etc.
The town businesses sponsor them.  Fiat is one of the leading sponsors.

Elder Bingham and Haack were out tracting.  They were two miles from their car, it was HOT and they had to get to their appointment so they cut through a wooded area.
They were very hot so they stopped here to get some water.
They sat down for a minute and Elder Haack started picking at his legs, he had ticks and chiggers.
Elder Bingham thought he was okay till he saw how many Elder Haack was picking off himself.
 He started itching.

They thought they had them till they were going out the door and found more.
I sent them to the bathrooms to take off their clothes and check themselves over.
Stan let Elder Bingham use a pair of his pants, he had to gather them in with his belt.
Elder Bingham said his pants were full of chiggers.
After they left we cleaned the bathroom, Stan vacuumed everywhere they went.  I am worried about the couch and chair they were sitting on.  We may start itching soon as well.
YUCK!
Thanks Elders!

This is an amazing tree. (Live Oak)
One thing we have noticed is that they respect trees up in this area.
When a big semi goes under it the top scraps the branches.

Besides being close to the temple the only thing I miss in Orland are the skies.

To gain courage for what lies ahead,
we need to be connected to the gospel of Jesus Christ
and overcome the tendency to look to the wisdom of the world for  help.
(Elder Allen F. Packer - seventy)
