That siver lining is getting brighter...

I was so full of myself last week I forgot one of the most important things that happened in our family.
Oliver James Rice
Oliver
This crazy wonderful outstanding young man...
He being our oldest grandchild...
Got his mission call.
Dear Elder Rice:

You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Philippines Bacolod Mission. It is anticipated that you will serve for the period of 24 months.

You should report to the Provo MTC on Wednesday , September 19th, 2012. You will prepare to preach the gospel in the Hiligaynon language.

That Elder Rice is our own Ollie (Oliver)
We are very proud of him and this new adventure.
He was with us on our mission for a week and kept up with the missionaries for two days.
He will do a terrific job.

This has been a good week.
The doctor told me I have torn the meniscus in my knee.
He said he would do surgery on it...
Period.
 Well not Period...
At least not before he told me how old I was and these things happen.
I don't have time for surgery right now..
AND
My knee has improved daily.
I am careful...
I can do just about everything I want to with few exceptions...
Then the Grandchildren
pick up the pieces for me and make it happen.

Last week after I posted my blog...
Ben Melissa and family came and gave me this butterfly...
It is beautiful in the yard...
And
It is starting to rust already.
(rust is a good thing)
Melissa also came over and asked if there was anything I needed her to do...
YES!
I needed the potting soil brought up from the front yard to the back...
So I could fill this birdbath with soil and plant the petunias.
(I need to say...she is one tough lady!)
This motley crew came to help out Saturday...
I sprayed weeds...
They dug out the never ending grape Hyacinths from my back terraces.
(Gladis Henrie gave them to me YEARS ago saying they would make a lovely boarder...
They have taken over!)
At the top of the picture peeking through is Ros and Jayden.
Down front Sierra Reigan Angie and Dani

The terraces are lovely but a lot of the ground cover died out or was eaten by the bunnies while we were on our mission.
Hopfully we can get it up to par and looking good...

Sierra Reigan and Jayden helped me find the Quiet Garden this week...

Stan helped me purchase A LOT of potting plants when we were in Logan for the doctor.

I have two beer barrels and they look wonderful.
When I had some left over I started putting them in places for color.

I thinned out the Hens and Chicks and put them in my tea pots...
I gathered up all the items that needed repaired...
They are somewhat repaired....
I put things out and around the back yard and patio...
As you can see by the bench it is still a work in progress...
I painted some of my home made bird baths...

Saturday night...
The Spanish missionaries needed a place to stay for the night.
They had a baptism in Malta and needed to be back for the confirmation Sunday...
Bill Nelson was at the baptism..
He brought them to Juniper and fed them...
We got to host them for the night and Sunday breakfast.
(They live south of Rupert an hour away.)
Elder Hall (from Phoenix) Elder Moreno (from Mexico)
What a treat that was for us...
We felt right at home taking care of the missionaries.

THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK!

The Twin Falls Temple presidency called and asked us to meet with them...
 Thursday are 4:00
 We did...
We are now called and set apart as Officiators in the Twin Falls Temple...
Starting...
May 31.

I am so excited!
This is something I have been looking forward to since my first time in the temple.
It is daunting...
BUT...
We know many who have done this and succeeded...
With the Lords help...
We will as well.

We also met up with Mike and Michelle for dinner...
It is always great to be with them...
I took their picture...
I don't know what happened to it...
Oh well.....

Often...
Our sincere love for people...
and...
Our good example...
can do more to interest..
others in the gospel...
then what we might say...
