Another week in the life of a Senior Couple

We were called to work in the office.
It is something that leaves us both wondering how we ever got here.
But without this experience all the other opportunities we have with the missionaries would never be.
How sad life would be without these experiences.

I love when love comes back 100 fold...
I grade each baptism report...
on a sticky note.
I let the missionaries know all the good things they have done...
Where they could improve...
then...
Remember Jesus Love You...
I get all kinds of sticky notes back from them...
But I love this one.
Elder Campbell also gets notes and letters...
We will cherish all them them forever.

Elder Moore loves to chat...
He sits himself on the files and we have some good conversations.
Elder Rydalch is sitting over yonder but is usually in visiting with Elder James about the Navy.
They really don't have much time to sit and talk.
They work hard at the Assistant Job plus baptize.

Leadership Training was this week so the missionaries came into the office afterward.
Elder Owens and Bennet and ? Stepp Dyer ? Merkley (Brain Freeze and can't remember two of them)

Part of the two days of Leadership Training are the lunches...
I love the privilege of working with the Relief Society Presidents as they do this.
The Osceola (Spanish) Branch did the lunch Thursday.
Sister Gomez a councelor in the Presidency took over for Sister Donjuan who was in a car accident.

Elder Wood is going home in a few days so we took him out to dinner at the Olive Garden.
Elder Wood Shelly and Brandenburg with Elder Campbell holding up his end.

Elder Shelley
Elder Wood looks like he has something on his ear...it is just something behind him.
 Elder Brandenburg always the poser.

The President got a new car.  We drove up to Semeron so I could drive our car back...
This is one nice Avalon.
Elder Campbell is driving it for a little bit.

Friday this new car needed to go up to Bunnell...
Top of the mission with Elders Fielding and Fox
So we drove it up to Bunell so we could bring the old car home.
 New Ford  and Old Chevy
Elder Fielding by their home, It was a nice little home and well kept.
Elder Fieldings spider plant. He also showed me the blackberry patch out back...
All wild.
Elder Fielding with Sister and Elder Campbell
Elder Fielding and Fox (Amy--he is doing great)
They have seen two bears and some dolphins.

The Elders told us how to get out to the coast, not far from where they live
So we could take the 1A highway home along the coast.
In this picture we are going over a bridge and got our first site of the ocean.
I remember as a girl traveling with my family to Whidbey Island.  As we would approach the ferry we would all try to be the first one to see the water. This took me back a little bit in time.

Elder Campbell taking in the massiveness of Flagler Beach.
It is well fortified and ready for hurricanes.
There are a lot of houses and businesses just a two lane highway away.
 Beatutiful

We found Hulls Seafood Kitchen and Market.
The fish there is all the days catch.
It was Soooooo good.

Stan wanted a picture of this Tractor...
Komaysou
Back at the office the old cars are lined up waiting for new owners.

Saturday afternoon Stan and I went to the office and then we were going for a ride.
It was so Hot Stan tried to get as much shade as he could.
The office front door is just five feet away from the front of the car...

We got a call from the missionaries and said the Creevan's were having a barbecue and did we want to come?

We were just going to go for a ride so why not?

Brother Terrance Creevan on the left Sister Peggy Creevan on the right. A friend in the middle.
He is the Ward mission leader.  I mentioned before that they were just sealed in the temple.  They are such great missionaries.  They organized a barbecue and invited all their neighbors.
And the missionaries.

This is a big air filled water slide.  The garden hose runs down it and drains into the lake behind them.
There is a large fan kind of thing that keeps the water slid filed with air. Kind of a fun activity for all the children there.

Transferr calls happened Saturday.
Elder Wood is going home and Elder Jensen is being transferred.
Elder Shelley is now OUR District Leader and Elder Jensen is going to be a district leader in Winter Park.

The Senior couple caught out of of our missionary attire.
The Creevan home is on this lake. All the missionaries posed in front of it
Top--Elder Bandenburg Whitworth Jensen Wood Shelley Campbell (sister) and Campbell
Bottom--Same as above except now we have the Ultimate missionaries...
Brother and Sister Terrance and Peggy Creevan!

Elder Jensen showing his skills at the grill.
Elder Whitworth trying out Elder Campbells hat.
Pretty cooolll.
Sister Peggy Creevan walking us to the car.
She has to be the most wonderful missionary.
It is so hot here.  Saturday there were fires all around us.
The last time I smelled smoke that heavy was the summer of 2007.
It is hard to breath.

On our drive to Lake Nona where Creevans live-- this is what the air was like.
That is smoke.

The storms build and are fierce with lots of lightening.

 The sunset through the smoke

After church there wasn't missionary correlation so we visited for a bit.
Elder Jensen pulled out his bubbles he got at the barbecue yesterday.
We are going to miss him.
Winter Park better appreciate him.

 Tradition
When we have a transfer and there is a change of assistants they come over for dinner as a farewell and a welcome.  BUT this time there is no farewell.
Elder Rydalch and Moore each have one more transfer.
They needed to train another assistant which makes THREE of them.
We welcome Elder Gregson back.
He started his mission here in Hunters Creek Spanish. After one transfer he was a District Leader AND trainer.  He now has been out one year and is Assistant.
All the 'old' missionaries are going home within two transfers and the President really likes to use the new missionaries in the leadership and training positions. There are so many new things in missionary work and the older missionaries keep going back to the old ways.  The new missionaries have been trained in the MTC and are ready to go.  So President Hall is using them to make the change.  It is very inspired and affective.

Welcome Back Elder Gregson

After they left us with a spiritual thought and prayer they were off doing what assistants to best.
Work Work Work

The storm did cause some beautiful skies.

We did get some rain Friday evening..
Before the storm it was beautiful at sunset.

Today in our combined meeting our high councilmen used Helaman 5:12 as he taught us how to prepare for Hurricanes.
Tonight Elder Gregson used it to teach us to prepare for the storms of life.
Helaman 5:12--Helaman is teaching his sons here.
An now, my sons, remember, remember that it is
upon the rock of our Redeemer,
who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation;
that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you,
it shall have no power over you to
drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo,
because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.

Cool that you called your husband "Hot Stan." :-) After 12 kids and 35 grandkids, I'm glad you still think he's "hot."
