Funerals

 Samuel James Jarman 1996-1014

Samuel James Jarman

1996 - 2014

"Everyone's Friend"
Sandy, Utah-Samuel James Jarman, son, grandson, brother, cousin and friend finished his earthly mission on February 3, 2014.
Sam was born June 13, 1996 in Majuro on the Marshall Islands and arrived at our home in Salt Lake City, Utah three months later. Our lives were touched that day by a tiny boy who grew into an amazing young man with an infectious smile. Sam had the ability to bring peace and joy to our home and anywhere he went throughout his life.
Sam loved snowboarding, water skiing, hiking, biking, long boarding, sports of any kind but most recently he was playing La Crosse for Summit Academy High School. Sam loved to be with friends and family all of the time. In fact his favorite pastime was just 'hanging out.' In 2012, Sam had obtained the honor of Eagle Scout. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had the opportunity in 2013 to fulfill a three week service mission for the Church in Nauvoo, IL. Since that time, Nauvoo has always held a special place in his heart filled with hard work, good memories and church service.
Sam is survived by his father and mother, Dean and Joelle and his siblings Ben and Jessie as well as countless family members and friends.
Sam was proceeded in death by his mother Amy.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 10:00am at the Sandy, UT Granite Stake Center, 2535 E Newcastle Dr. (8890 S). Friends and family may call at the church Friday evening between 6:00pm and 8:00pm.
Interment: Mountain View Memorial Park, 3115 E. 7800 S. Cottonwood Heights. We are asking all who knew Sam to celebrate his life with us by wearing yellow and/or white in his honor as he brought peace and friendship to everyone he knew.
Donations may be made on behalf of Sam Jarman to the General Missionary Fund for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

birthdays

Starting with January 14 to February 5...
The Neilson family has four birthday's.
Jordan--January 14
Sydney-- January 31
Larry --February 3
Becky-- February 5

During that couple of weeks of birthdays I usually take them out to dinner.
Friday January 17 I did just that.
After a lot of comings and goings...
We met up at the...
TEXAS ROAD KILL...
opps...
TEXAS ROAD HOUSE...

It is a fun place to eat...
Especially on a birthday...
They bring out a log horse and the birthday
person sits on it while the whole resturant
Yahoos....

Jordan turned 14 January 14 2014
Syd is going to be 12...
A young woman...

Be a rainbow...
In...
Someone else's cloud

I truely love my grandchildren...

With my physical, emotional and mental health in bad repair...
I find the only real joy in life is my grandchildren.
Just for sake of skeptics as to the state of my mind...
I wouldn't be able to find such joy without...
Such an amazing companion...
The Lord...
The Gospel...
The church and our assignments within that structure.
BUT...
like so many years ago when I found pure joy being with my children...
I once again realize that these precious gifts given from above through my children...
Are where we can find beauty in the world.
Where we can find peace.
Humor
tears
Companionship
The holidays gave me just such joy...
I made a post on Cedar Tree Companions...
to that effect.

December 30...
Ben's family...
Becky's family...
and Me
all went to see the movie...
Frozen.

We had a snack at Burger King before...
Plus Candy at the Movie...

January 31
New Years Eve 2013
I was told by my children that if I did a blog of our mission them printed it into a book,
the Grandchildren would enjoy looking at it.
They do...

My sister Patti sent me the angel...
It is illuminated by a light...
It has a small glass nativity inside.
It has sparkle snow blowing around it by a little fan.
She is beautiful...
Food food food...
This bar has been the host of many family functions...
Always including FOOD
New Years day we also ate corn chowder and cheese biscuits
Reigan's birthday was December 27.
She is seven...
She shared her cupcakes with us...

Of course we played games...
Ate
FOOD
And laughed till Stan and I were sure we were 'loud and boisterous'.
We certainly had fun.
Hopefully the children will remember family and equate it with fun.

I am not afraid of tomorrow
for I have seen yesterday
 and I love today.
Noah's Ark : Everything I need to know, I learned from Noah's Ark .
ONE: Don't miss the boat.
TWO
: Remember that we are all in the same boat!
THREE
: Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.
FOUR
: Stay fit. When you're 60 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.
FIVE: Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.
SIX:
Build your future on high ground.
SEVEN
: For safety's sake, travel in pairs.
EIGHT
: Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.

NINE
: When you're stressed, float awhile.
TEN
: Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.
ELEVEN
: No matter the storm,  there's always a rainbow waiting.

Is there anything better then GRANDCHILDREN !!!!

In life there are things that come our way...
That are eternal in every aspect.
My children of course.
My wonderful Husband.
BUT...
By far...
Grandchildren top the list.

Malta Elementary School Christmas Play
Dylan 3rd from the right in the back...
An note here, there are a lot of these children Stan and I have taught.
No Grandchildren, but this grade school band is note worthy

Reigan is second from the right...

Sierra left a hurricane, Olivia right the tooth fairy...
The reindeer got sick so all the other magical characters helped Santa deliver Christmas presents.
Ross is right smack dab in the middle...
What a guy.
 Sierra and Olivia again...

This is the Malta Elementary School
What a site...
It warms my heart to see how our area is growing.
They are also lined up along both walls all the way to the back.

A fun lunch with Jordan and Sydney...Of course Becky.

Annul Pumpkin Roll Production...
Sierra Olivia and Brooke helped me with pumpkin rolls this year...
No Brooke in not officially my granddaughter...
But I did have a lot to do with raising her dad...
Paul.
Stan's brother....
Dani came and went as well.
Jayden and Reigan came later on...
 When Brook is concentrating...
She opens her mouth and sticks out her tong
 Four main stations are involved...
These girls were able to do it all before the day was over...
Olivia...

1st pumpkin roll that was gift worthy.
the first one fell apart...
Oven temp and a few other tweaks and we were good to go...
We messed up just enough to have a taste now and then.
 Brook and Sierra...

Last years Pumpkin Roll helpers...
They were okay with just watching...

 Jayden and Dani...

While we worked there was a lot of playing going on...
Reigan...

Toward the end of the project, things were pretty sticky and gooey.

They all joined forces after things were cleaned up...
To make a snowman family.
Jayden Reigan Sierra Brooke and Olivia...
oh
Can't for get Max

 Reigan is hiding...
We did a lot of puzzles as the day wore on into evening.

Christmas Eve...
Chris and Ben's family came over for traditional tacos.
We had Melissa's yummy pear and blueberry pie...
and of course a pumpkin roll.

Thursdays after our temple shift we generally meet up with Mike...
He is our family 'coke' distributor.
We have lunch and a good visit.

This is very very very scary....
When I go to the temple I always put on the top watch.
But on this particular morning I couldn't find it.
So I asked Stan if he thought I could wear my everyday watch.
He said sure...so I put it on...
when I got to the temple all the sisters were around the temple clock setting watches to temple time.
I lifted up my sleeve and there were two watches.
I didn't even see it when I was changing.
Everyone got a great laugh...
As for me...
I got a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach...
It isn't a matter of 'if' but 'when'.
This is certainly a huge scare for me.

Friday December 27 was Reigan's #7 birthday...
We went to Texas Roadhouse where the waiters really make a huge thing of it...
She didn't like being put on the spot...
She did cheer up when I threatened to eat her birthday Icecream treat they brought to her...
We also went to see the movie...
Frozen...
This was Reigan's first time in a movie theater.
She like it.
We also went into Deseret Book.
She was used to a library where you check books out.
Choosing a book for her birthday was a difficult task.
This was her first time in a bookstore.

Becky designed the sweatshirts we gave our family for Christmas...
Angie is modeling the zipper sweatshirt.
There are tee shirts
Sweat shirts
and
Onsies.

Yes, life is precious!
No one can cuddle a cherished newborn baby,
look into those beautiful eyes,
feel the little fingers,
and caress that miraculous creation without deepening reverence for life
 and for our Creator.
Life comes from life.
It is a gift from our Heavenly Father.
It is eternal,
as he is eternal.

Perspective....

It has been some time since I posted pictures.
Funny how that gets away from us...
Especially when life is happening all around us.

The weather was beautiful and open till the first of December...
The geranium on the front porch didn't freeze till mid November.

THEN...

ALL OF A SUDDEN...

IT WAS BELOW 0 DEGREES...

Now it is very cold

I haven't taken many pictures...
We have had some snow...
Can I just say for the record....
I HATE WINTER.
(My perspective of course...Stan loves it!)

Ross frequents our home often...
He checks on Grandma and Grandpa...
Mostly Grandpa.
They are tight.

This day out of the clear blue sky he asked...
Looking up and around him and spreading out his arms...
'How do your walls stand up?'
So grandpa sat down with him...
Ross stuck with him for about an hour...
Then...
He was gone.

Perspective...

 Halloween was a fun time...
We had all the Juniper families come to our door.
Only Dani could be a pretty devil...
Regain is Bell of course and Sierra an M& M  (Yum)

 The Jeremy Nelson family...
Matt, Ryan Eliza Trevor Becca and Katrina...
 John Campbell Family
Haven, Naomi, Porter, Grant
 Melissa, for reals...
(she was dressed like this over at school...She asked Dani if she wanted to take the bus or ride with her.  Dani REALLY didn't know this lady and said she would take the bus...)
Perspective...
 Melissa Olivia Dylan and ROSS
 Josh Nelson family..
Kenzie, Caleb, Niki, Shandlie, Brinnley
 Braden Campbell
Bryce Campbell Family...
Brook Braden Sadi Megan Tyler

Veterans Day
Jayden was in the high school choir
(red poke a dot skirt)

Olivia in the Jr. High band...cousin Brook with her flute

 Full band

 Full choir
It was a wonderful Perspective of honoring our service people.

 My friend Carolyn Heaton...
she has 14 children...
Her youngest were the age of our middle family.
We were both watching the Veterans day program
(Our perspective on life runs pretty close)

Saturday November 9
Angie Jayden and I went to town for our birthdays...
so much fun!

During all the heckticness of November my freezer died while Stan was on a road trip.
OF COURSE.
I went to Smithfield to Darrel's appliance and got another freezer, which they delivered.

 Outside Darrells was this tub,
I loved the idea...
Perspective...
There are beauties all around us...

Tuesday and Wednesday
November 19-20 2013
Met Andrew on his way to the MTC and Boise Idaho Mission...
At the Salt Lake International Airport.

 He picked up a stray.
Angie from Brazil didn't speak English.
She flew into the Atlanta Georgia airport from Brazil...
She saw Andrew...
She knew he was a missionary and hung on for dear life.
We stayed with her till she was on her shuttle to Provo.
(Angie's perspective was foreign. But she was clear in how to get where she was going...
Andrew was an answer to her prayers.)

We had lunch with Andrew and Mary at Chili's
Then we went to the Jordan Temple.
Another temple another family member...
He is such an outstanding young man.
He is on his feet and running.
He won't have any adjustment time at all.

He stayed over night at Mary's...
Sarah, Andrew's mom loves Creamies and can't find them in Alabama...

Gabby is climbing the walls
The next morning on the way to the MTC we stopped at IHOP
For Breakfast/ Brunch...
They give new missionaries heading to the MTC a free breakfast!

Up to this point Andrew has been cool as a cucumber.
But...
See that hand...
We are almost to the MTC...
He is thumping his fingers and singing...
Excitement probably more then anxiety.
Perspective...

He got out grabbed his suitcase, while Grandpa and I meet his host who is going to Russia.
BUT he is from Meridian ID...
Just where Andrew is going!

He shook Andrew's hand and told him he was going to the greatest mission in the world.

 That is it.
See you in two years Andrew...

Since we were in Provo...
We took a tour through Cedar Fort on our way home...
We love our kids and miss them very much...

 Okay...
So we have Ross again...
He walked in our front door smiling big like this...

 He didn't say anything...
Just smiled...
How could we miss the hole in his mouth...
Then he left...
Just that quick.
(Big event for Ross..His perspective)

November 23-25
Saturday through Monday...
Another time and temple...
We went to the Boise Temple with Braden...
Trevor and Beth...
I love this.

Edward Stephen Rice...
Eddie...
He is so intense about everything he does...
He is good for the Rice family...
He will miss Braden...
A LOT!
 Adrienne...
Number 1 grandchild...
Perfect in every way...
What a blessing she is for the Rice Family....
Beth, mom of above said children...
What a blessing she is as a mom!
Trevor dad to above said children.
He is a father...bread winner...husband and student.
What a blessing he is to the Rice Family.
 Braden...
Prospective missionary...
Going to the Argentina Mendoza Mission...
A blessing to the Rice family...
Ollie...
Not present at this dinner.
BUT...
He is certainly a blessing to his family as well.

 Village at Meridian...
Braden worked here and his perspective of the lights fountains buildings etc added to the awesomeness of all we were looking at.
Braden and Rachel...

Thanksgiving choir...
Over 300 voices.
Wonderful...
they did many pieces arranged by Mack Wilberg.
He does most of the Mormon Tabernacle work.

Moab
November 27-30
Wednesday-Saturday
We had about seven families represented.
We count "Joie" as representing the Weaver Family...
We also know they are probably there when we meet as a family...
The family rents a home in Moab every other year.
we had about 35 people there this year.
Stan and I brought the meat...
BUT
They needed something to go with the meat...
Plus...
Breakfasts and lunches...

First item on the agenda is FOOD!

Since I didn't hike...
I stole pictures off face book for my blog...
What is fun about family activities is...
PERSPECTIVE!
I love the different pics, and family combinations...
It really shows them and their personalities.
I will just add a few comments...
Maybe...

Sawyer with snow.  In Phoenix they don't see that at all...
Love to know his perspective
Photo: Proof that I made it too! I didn't go any closer though cause falling off a cliff is not my idea of a good time. Oh, you think I'm dramatic do you? Well, then maybe I should tell you my brother in law Ben Campbell saved an Asian tourist who fell and was sliding off said cliff, inches away from death while his family screamed in horror, now who's dramatic!

 Funny story...

But another look at Perspective....

“If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.”
Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden

Tuesday and Wednesday
December 3-4
Mary picked Braden up at the Salt Lake City International Airport.
(Very late because of lots of snow)
Mary Joie and Gabby dropped him off at the MTC in Prove...
Gabby's perspective of this event is in her dreams...
She was asleep in the car.
Photo: Gabby was also present...just fell asleep on the ride down!

We dropped Andrew off at the MTC a couple of weeks earlier.
His Mission is Boise Idaho.
The day Andrew flew into Boise was the day Braden flew out for the MTC.
They were able to see each other for a few moments as they crossed paths at the Boise Airport.
Both going on missions...
BUT...
the next two years is going to give each young man a different
PERSPECTIVE...
On life, the gospel and their commitment to the Lord.

"We become so caught up in the busyness of our lives.

Were we to step back,

 however,

and take a good look at what we’re doing,

we may find that we have immersed ourselves in the

'thick of thin things.'

In other words,

too often we spend most of our time taking care of the things which do not really matter much at all in the grand scheme of things,

neglecting those more important causes."

—Thomas S. Monson, "What Have I Done for Someone Today?"
